PIF with Tierney Smith & Miracle League Baseball
I had an experience over the last few weeks that I thought I would share.
For work I help to coordinate and run recreational programs for individuals with disabilities through the Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation Adaptive Program. One of the programs that we have is a baseball league that is held on an all accessable baseball field with Spring and Fall seasons. It is called Miracle League. The Millcreek Baseball Academy approached us about opportunities to volunteer with our participants. We arranged times for them to come, and boy did they come! They were amazing!
They helped those individuals with disabilties run the bases, hit the ball, catch in the outfield, and just brought an incredible energy with them that our participants loved! It was incredible for me to see these boys take time on Saturdays to come out and be such great buddies! They also did an equipment drive to provide more equipment for our program. These boys and their coaches affected positively the lives of all those that they interacted with on those days they came out to the field! And I know that because of these experiences they will continue to better the lives of those around them! They were incredible!
They documented a little bit of their experience on their blog, and took a lot of pictures!
I attached some of my favorite pictures of their service!
The world is full of so many good people and it is incredible to see young people so involved in serving others! Many tears of gratitude and awe were brought to my eyes throughout the experience and as I looked through the pictures. I hope these boys realize the amazing affect they have had in this community!
