CHARLEY JOHNSON BREATHES NEW LIFE INTO PAY IT FORWARD FOUNDATION

SALT LAKE CITY, UT — January 13, 2012 — Everything about the Pay It Forward Foundation is changing. Pay It Forward powerhouse Charley Johnson has taken the wheel as foundation President.

A year ago Charley Johnson was a highly successful young businessman. Then he walked away—from millions. Why? It isn’t his passion anymore. His passion is “changing the world like nobody thought possible.” Charley is the creator of the Pay it Forward Bracelet, a “physical reminder” to do good that has reached over 1 million people in 112 countries, and the PIF Experience website, (www.pifexperience.org) which chronicles Pay It Forward stories from all over the world, and which Charley updates multiple times daily.

According to Catherine Ryan Hyde, author of the novel Pay It Forward (on which the movie was based) and Pay it Forward Foundation founder: “Charley says he’s going to make this ‘the biggest thing the world has ever seen.’ If anybody else said that, I might not believe it. But nothing is out of the question when Charley goes after it.” She goes on to say that no one has Charley’s passion for Pay It Forward, and no one ever worked on the foundation and movement full-time. “For years we’ve been wanting to take Pay It Forward to the next level. With Charley, we’re there.”

“Pay it Forward” is a simple act of doing good for others (ideally in threes) and asking that your kindness be paid forward, rather than returned.

The Pay it Forward Movement has already gained incredible momentum. An international PIF Facebook group grew to 4,000 members in less than a month. A worldwide Pay It Forward book reading flash mob is coming soon. Charley now travels to speak at schools and meet with others who share his passion for change.

“As far as I’m concerned, Charley is now the official Pay It Forward,” Hyde says. “I’ve passed the torch to him.”
