Obsidian Retreat is official European sponsor for the Pay It Forward movement.

The idea of Pay It Forward stems from a wonderful book of the same name, by Catherine Ryan Hyde, which Warner Bros then made into a film starring Kevin Spacey and Helen Hunt in 2000.

The basic idea of Pay It Forward is that we each carry out random acts of kindness for 3 people, with no expectation of anything in return. Each of those 3 people then pays the kindness forward to 3 more people and so on. If each person does this, within 2 weeks, over 4.7 million lives will have been touched by those initial random acts of kindness. The aim is to reconnect the world through kindness… to bring simplicity back to a complex world.

Several years ago, Charley Johnson, the President of the Pay It Forward Foundation created a Pay it forward bracelet to serve as a physical reminder to do good, but also as a baton to pass on when you carry out acts of kindness. Wearing the bracelet reminds you to be kind to others at every opportunity and then when you are, you remove the bracelet and give it to the person you have just carried out the act of kindness for. In this way, the reminder is passed on and kindness spreads. The bracelets have become very popular and demand is always very high. Obsidian have committed to purchase 5000 bracelets a month for the next six months and these will be sent out to fulfill requests from all over Europe. This is a minimum sponsorship of $12000. We are pleased to support Pay It Forward in creating a kinder world for us all.
