Founder

Founded by What Would Love Do Int’l‘s, Christine Horner, YLC originated from a video submitted to the United Nations in 2009. The video responded to the question, “How can we make this world a better and safer place?”

Horner proposed that removing humanity from a state of survivalism by working together in cooperation rather than competition allows one to enter a state of joyful creativity.

After her 11-year-old daughter, Victoria, was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2009, Christine’s seeking intensified as she and her daughter braved treatment. In spite of reading the works of nearly every Master, Guru, Teacher and teaching itself, her life continued to fall completely apart.

With no one to turn to and no where to further go, Christine had no choice but to surrender, allowing the fullness of her I AM presence to birth Itself. Finally, mid 2011, Christine gave away her collection of spiritual books and CD’s, not fully realizing until later that she had dropped being the seeker, becoming the Seer.

I’ve organized CAOK — calculated acts of kindness — for a few years as a lenten tradition. Today, Ash Wednesday, kicks things off yet again.

In the past there have been bunnies, flowers, aprons, baking and lots of encouragement to pay it forward. Also, I am pretty sure every single one of my girlfriends has received an awkwardly sewn handbag.

The idea is to consciously do something nice for someone else each of the 46 days of lent. It isn’t about sacrifice, but instead a period meditative, intentional kindness.

This year, the CAOK theme is correspondence. If you’d like to play along, I encourage you to send a letter, or a dozen. To the grocery store manager in praise of the bagger who always does a great job. To the grandparent you haven’t talked to in a bit. To the radio host who you’ve always adored. (Sent.)

If you are interested in playing along, I’d love to hear about it. Use the button.

Cheers,

Kindness Cab Full website Leon Website Facebook Page Twitter

I have always had a passion for interacting with people. I loved the camaraderie of making new friends and treasured the adventure of travel. This passion prompted me to swap my life as a city broker to pursue my dreams of traveling the world. My nomadic spirit has taken me across the globe to exotic locations like Nepal, Mongolia, Gallup New Mexico and the Galapagos Islands.

My first foray into the Television world was with the Discovery Channel’s hit show “Destination Future.” My involvement in this show allowed me to combine my love of travel and television, which I later turned into a hit series with the creation of “Amazing Adventures of a Nobody.” I created the reality-travel format and funded the first edition of ‘Nobody’ with the hopes that it would be picked up by a major television network. I like taking risks it seems…

The UK’s Sky TV was the first to air ‘Amazing Adventures of a Nobody’ and following a successful first season; the show was licensed to National Geographic International and aired in over 100 countries around the world, including the United States on the Fox Reality Channel and Canada’s OLN.

In each series, I am tasked with traveling across countries and continents on just $5 a day. I am allowed to accept gifts from strangers and work for food or lodging but I am not allowed to beg for money or go over the agreed daily sum of $5. I can only stay in each city for one night, adding heightened drama and intensity to the journeys. In season one I crossed the UK traveling from Land’s End to John O’Groats. In season two I traversed the USA starting in New York’s Times Square and ending at the fabled Los Angeles’ Hollywood Sign. Season three sees me take on Europe. I began my journey in the nostalgic city of Paris and attempted to make my way to the infamous ‘Red Square’ in Moscow on only 5 Euros a day.

I live in L.A these days, where I spend my time writing and working on creating new and interesting adventures…

I am thankful that you have come to my site and I hope you enjoy the experience.

Last time I reached out to you for a similar event, we were able to get over 750 people in over 13 counties involved. With your help, we can touch more people this time! This Event, or shall I say day, is about about paying it forward or as some call it, practicing random acts of kindness. Regardless of what you call it, lets step outside of our safety zones and do some good!

So on this day, do a good deed for others without asking for anything in return. Instead ask that they pay it forward to someone else in need.

Your actions could be as simple as paying for the person behind you when getting your morning coffee, taking out your neighbors trash, spending time talking with an elder, telling the manager of a restaurant how great your server was, giving a homeless person something to eat or being a mentor for someone who needs some support. Bottom line, our goal is to touch the unexpecting…show them we care about them, we appreciate them…we are the same as them.

This “Event” is public, so please invite your friends and lets see how many people we can get involved and help make a difference.

Please join the group “Briant’s Next Move” to post about your experience and to get involved with more events like this.

Thanks for your continued support.

Global music channel joins Arison Group in campaign encouraging music lovers to upload good deeds videos online

The Arison Group has partnered with Viacom’s global music channel MTV to promote an international good deeds initiative, ahead of Israel’s Good Deeds Day, set for March 25th.

The Good Deeds Day initiative was launched six years ago by businesswoman and philanthropist Shari Arison through the Ruach Tova fellowship (Good Spirit, NGO).

The joint campaign will encourage MTV’s millions of viewers – from 40 different European countries, the Middle East, Africa and Israel – to do a good deed, be it big or small, for the benefit of others.

The campaign was launched on February 13th and will span across a period of six weeks.

MTV and the Arison Group will call for audiences worldwide to upload pictures, videos and stories of their own good deeds or of someone they know via the gooddeedsday-mtv.com website. They will then select the two most inspiring deeds and award the winners a VIP trip to an international MTV event.

Some 140,000 Israelis and thousands more around the world participated in the 2011 Good Deeds Day.

The Ruach Tova fellowship has been working with the Jewish Federation over the Good Deeds Day for the past three years. In 2012, 20 federations across North America, South America and Eastern Europe are to participate in the day.
